Frequently Asked Questions

What are the advantages of using Plaza Urgent Care Center versus a hospital emergency room?

Plaza Urgent Care Center is a perfect alternative to an emergency room for medical problems that are not life threatening but need immediate attention. Unlike most emergency room visits, an urgent care center insures professional and personal care that will be administered quickly, even without an appointment.

The advantages of using an urgent care center over the emergency room are shorter wait times, follow up care, and cheaper prices. There is no appointment necessary.

When to use an urgent care center?

  • When you don't want to wait for an appointment.
  • When you want to be seen now for convenient, quality medical care
  • When traveling out of town
  • When you can't get in to see your primary care physician
  • When you simply don't have a primary care physician

We have extended hours so we are here when you need us. Our physicians can treat you and refer you back to your primary care physician for follow up, or we will continue to follow you here until you are back to optimal health. We understand that you are coming to us in times of need. That is why our caring staff goes out of their way to make your visit more pleasant.

Plaza Urgent Care Center is staffed by board-certified/board-eligible physicians.

Our goal is to provide high quality medical care for the evaluation and treatment of non-life threatening episodic illness and injury for adults and children.

When it's not quite an emergency...

Plaza Urgent Care Center offers fast, convenient and affordable quality health care. Mild headaches, stomach aches and sprained ankles can be painful, but don't usually require a visit to the emergency room. However, these conditions often require urgent attention because prompt care is required, either because of discomfort or the fact that your usual doctor is not available for a visit.

We also treat everything the emergency room can with the exception of severe trauma and life threatening illnesses such as heart attacks. This means we treat the following:

  • Illness
  • Infections
  • Allergic reactions
  • Automobile accidents
  • Back injuries
  • Burns
  • Cuts and contusions
  • Fractures
  • Sprains
  • Sports physicals

Also, if you have out-of-pocket expenses for urgent care, in most cases, they will be less than out-of-pocket expenses for emergency care.

Why should I call my personal physician first?

Your personal physician is aware of your medical history and any treatment you may be receiving. Personal physicians often keep same or next day appointments available for patients with urgent conditions.

You should also contact your personal physician after a visit to urgent care to get any necessary follow-up care and make sure that your personal physician is aware of any treatment you are receiving.

Some insurance companies require patients to have a referral from their personal physician before being seen at an urgent care center.

We are open 7 days a week, on a walk-in basis:
Monday – Friday from 12 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Our urgent care center’s convenient hours may be used to access some of our non-urgent services such as: school, sports, camp, work physicals, and immunizations for preventable diseases.
